Argentina Bahia Blanca Mission

Hola everyone,

this week has been awsome!! alot of things have happened in just a few days!!!! Elder chica was transfered on saturday just out of the blue! he is going to the very most south part of the mission, in a city called viedma! it was crazy, we were just walking down the street and he got a call from elder nash ( the ap) and he said elder chica´s bus leaves in like 10 hours and to start packing! it was crazy, elder chica was a good hard worker and a good trainer and ill miss him! my new comps. name is Elder Ayala he is from chile, (santiago) and he is great! i have only known him for i like 5 hours, but he seems like a good missionary! that makes my first 2 comps not only natives, but the are both zone leaders as well! it is so cool, and a huge blessing because it is really helping my spanish!

I also had my first babtism! it was way cool! well half my first babtism! Jose is an investigator of the sister missionaries in the mission, me and elder chica conducted the babtsimal interview and taught a lesson or 2 to him! for some reason he asked me to babtize him! (i think it is because all the other missionarys here are smaller guys, like under 5 feet 9 inches) it was way cool! i did it is spanish too which was different! i wish i would have memorized it in spanish in the mtc becuase i had to spend all my personal study time that day to memorize the words! haha is was great though! we have a lot of investigators that are soooo close, but just little things are holding them back! this week me and elder ayala are going to work hard to get them prepared for babtism!!

Also this upcomming week me and elder ballido´s (the other new elder with me) companions are leaving for 2 days for a zone conference! it will be just us 2 new missionaries, and one of us doesnt speak speak that well (me), alone for 2 days! im excited because we are good freinds, but alittle nervous! i hope we dont get too lost! Anyway thanks for all the prayers and support from you guys! I love ya and miss you!!!

Hey eveyone!
Wow this week has been crazy in st. george! I hope all is well with Hunter and Bus. Tell them to e-mail me! i would love to hear from a couple of experianced missionaries like those guys! haha it is crazy when missionarys are doing great work satan can find a way to stop it! i know that they will be able to go back out soon and be great missionaries. Any way this week has been good! unfortunatly Alexi ( the 16 year old that has trouble not smoking) had a smoke the day before his babtism! its frustrating but i think he will stay clean for this saturday! the good news is that we have been teaching this family. family lobosco! they are great and have been accepting our lessons very well! We are inviting them to be babtized christmas eve! so excited because i think they will accept the invatation!
Anyway i do get to skype you guys on christmas!! i get to skype you (wed.) at 6 pm my time! i think it is 2 in the afternoon for you guys but im not sure! look up the time difference in time for argentina and utah and be on the computer when it is 6 my time! super excited to talk to you guys! i cant wait to hear all your crazy stories without me for the past 2 months. anyways im doing great so you guys dont have to worry about me. hope all is well with cam too! not looking forward to when i have to do that! you guys better send me lots of pictures of christmas! i loving seeing pictures of you guys! It still doesnt feel like christmas though becuase its so hot! i feel like i should be having my birthday soon, but its christams! crazy!!

Hola everyone,

Holy cow. St. George sounds crazy. of course it craziest winter ever happens right when i leave! i guess when i left, St. George just became a colder place! haha Anyway my week was good. I did alot of walking and a lot of teaching. the only problem is that we walk for like 2 miles to get to a lesson and the investigators is not there! That is the worst! any we were going to have a babtism on saturday for Alexis. Alexis is a 16 year old boy that lives just outside Trenque Lauqen. everything was going great but last wed. he had a smoke! AHHHH it was frustrating, but if he "stays clean" until wed. of this week he can get babtised this sat. we also have other investigators with babtismal dates, but most of them got pushed back becuase they didnt show up for church. they are all out of town for Christmas.

Anyway, ill talk some more about Argentina. the driving here is crazy awesome. there are no stop signs! and people dont stop in intersections, they just role right through! i Love it. haha so my appartment has a washing machine in it. its plastic but it gets the job done. and we also have like a machine that you put your clothes in and it spins them dry. its weird but atleast i dont have to pay for my laundry. Me and my comp. are doing well. he is a very hard worker. sometimes we work hard but no effective. like we plan one lesson with an investigater and the next lesson is like 2 miles away and we have 10 min to get there. we are trying to work on working more effectively. Its starting to get hot, but thats ok. I´ve lost like 15 lbs sence i left the MTC. haha I have lunch at a members house about 2 or 3 times a week. Tell tanner he needs to start to practice eating what ever is in fornt of him! haha also its very hot so people offer us water all the time. its rude to say no so we drink it, but i havent been sick yet so thats good!

The branch is doing well. i even teach english clases every thursday. Down here even members start families at like age 16. And Bro. Luekengua was right, they just suckle right out in the open, the first time i saw it i was looking around to see if anyone else saw what i just did, but they were all acting normal! haha. it´s still preatty awkward but im the only missionary thats from a country where that is wierd. all the other missionary´s in the zone are from central or south america! Any way this week has been good and you can tell the ym and yw that im doing good and to stay classy!

Hey everyone!

This week has been awesome! sorry if there is any spelling problems. the keyboards down here are in spaish and every word i type it says im spelling i wrong! haha. Ya so here is how my week went. after i called you in Georgia, i had a 12 hour flight to buenos aries. some how i was able to sleep for 5 hours.  they gave us dinner and breakfest and it was not half bad for airplane food. When we landed it was a bit confusing, because everything was in spanish, but we eventually found our way to the travel people. we then took a bus to the misson home in buenos aries. we had luch there and then they took us to a smaller airport. we took a flight straight to Bahía Blanca. We landed and rode to the mission home In bahia blanca. we stayed the night there a room that at the time i thought was ghetto. i slept on the top of a 3 story bunkbed. it was pretty cool. the next day we had our interviews with the pres. it was kind of confusing because he spoke spanish, but it was fun! then we wathced a power point of where we were serving and who with.

My comps. name is Elder Chica. he is from columbia. he know a little enlish, but there is a language barier. i live in an appartment with 4 people. me, elder chica, elder ballido, and elder gabreil. only elder chica knows english and it is only a little bit. it is awesome! im the only white guy in the district and in the whole city of Trenque Lauquen. that is where im serving. it is a city about the size of cedar. some parts are nice, and some are very poor. i love it. it is very hot here though. we dont have snow, but it did rain yesterday! it was very humid to. i was sweating and it was raining. it was crazy.

We are teaching alot of investigtors and we walk alot. we actually a babtism for one of our investigators. he had already accepted babtism before i showed up but i got to conferm him a member. its weird here becuase only 2 people conferm new converts into the church. just me and elder chica. anyways im sending some pictures of stuff so you can see. oh and the milk and mayo come in bags! it crazy! love you all so much and thanks for all your prayers!

Dad: Thanks Dad You are the best!!! Love you sooooo much!!!! I did give a talk my first yesterday, but i dont think anyone undertsood me, anyway, love you!!!

Tan: Your life sounds alot like mine did in highschool! haha. I know its hard, but you´ll figure it out! I found out that when someone is bugging me or is rude, i just dont say anything or do anything. its hard but i am way happier that way! thanks for being such a great little brother. stay strong in the gospel and honor your preisthood! i love you!!!!!

Dal: Holy cow man, that sounds crazy! i cant believe there was that much snow! that sounds soooo cool. Ill tell you about my week in the big letter, but i just want to say thanks for the present. i havent opened it yet, but im excited to! Thanks for being such a great little brother. Hey Everyone,

Wow this week has been crazy and awesome. We had an awesome thanks giving, and we had a real thanksgiving meal. It was good, but no were near our family thanksgivings. And the stuffing was not as good as yours mom. It turns out that we got to hear from, Russel M. Neslon. He gave a wonderful talk. Then we got to go back to our "Home Room" ( because it was at main campus). We got a couple hours to do what ever we wanted. Me and some other Elders walked to the temple. It was a perfect outside! After that we did a huge service project to help hungry kids in Utah. We made these soup packages that you just at water to and it and heat it up. I now know what lentil beans are. Haha Then we all watched Ephrums Rescue and it was an awesome experience.

Yesterday was in-field orientation. I met the blond guy (Elder Christensen) that was off the district. I wish i had had my camera, but i didn't. It was a good day. We learned about how to receive Miracles and find people to teach. we also learned how to use the bishop and ward mission leader to help us find more investigators. I cant wait to get out in the field.  Oh and I did get the package from you guys. It was such a miracle. I checked the mail at around 1:30 and it hadn't came. The mail room closes at 2 on Saturdays. I went in and asked the guy if anymore mail was coming today and he said no. I was pretty sad, but around 1:50 i got the impression to check the mail again. I quickly said a little prayer and checked it again and it was there!!!! What a cool experience. Unfortunately i did not revive grandma honeys so it will get sent back to her sometime soon, but tell her thanks and its expensive to send stuff to Argentina so she doesn't have to send to me while im there. I know she loves me! Tell Grandma Vicki thanks for the Christmas package that i got a couple of weeks ago! I use the blanket every night.

Oh and i also saw Klint ( i think it was him, it is the one going to Italy) we talked a little and he is doing good, but still adjusting. Any way i got to go but tell everyone i love them and i know they are praying for me! I'll send some pics!  Love you Guys!

Hey Everyone!

Thanks for all the letters. I just found out that I'm only aloud to write letters by mail on Thursday to, so tell Kennedy, Gage, cam, and bridge that they should be coming soon. I loved hearing about your weeks, and let me know how DH does. so today i went in to the dentist and i had and infection on that tooth that i almost had to have a root canal on a couple of years ago. so i had a root canal today and i am on some antibiotics, but i feel better! Also my companion got i concussion yesterday night so i had to wake him like every 3 hours. hahaha. Anyways i had a really good week this week. yes mom i am keeping a journal and i write in it every night. i haven't sent the cards because i can write them until today so the should be there soon. my favorite things to eat here is every 2 weeks or so the feed us papa johns pizza. it is pretty good, plus on our "p" days we get to go to Brigham landing and eat burger supreme or DP cheese-stake, but dont get everyone hopes up for when they come to the mtc, because only west campus missionaries get to do that. Which means they have to go Spanish speaking. my district is full of a bunch of goof-balls. they are awesome! There have been a lot of memorable experiences so far but one of the best is that i was able to give an Elder in my district a blessing and it was so cool! I will email bus and see how it is going. the weather here is really weird, it snows some days and then is like 75 degrees the next. oh and i should get my travel plans tomorrow so that should be fun. Last week we had the idea to have a weekly tie connvention at our place for the whole zone. i picked up so good ties. It was awesome.

Well that all that happened to me this week. sorry all the weeks kind of sound the same but that is how it is here at the mtc. i love you all soooooooooooo much and i kinda of miss you i guess. hahahaha hope all is well, and i am doing great, just excited to get out in the field. thanks for all you guys have done for me!

               Hey everyone!

I loved all the letters i received from you this week. things sound like they are going good down there! i sent some letters yesterday so you should be getting them soon. i had a great week this week. i think i forgot to tell you but i am the district leader of my district. i have so many cool experiences by having the opportunity of being district leader! i get to pick up all our letters and hand them out to my district, i love seeing there reactions! anyway after i went to the temple today, i ate at main campus hoping i would see chase. i did and we had a great lunch together. he is doing great and he leaves this Monday! it is crazy how fast the send out English speaking missionaries. im having alot of fun here but it is kind of hard because i cant tell my investigators what i want to tell them yet because my Spanish is not quite good enough yet! i also got my first hair cut. it doesnt look half bad! the days kinda blend together now, but it feels like i´ve been gone for like a month. weird right!
i still have not heard anything about my visa and i probably wont until a week before i leave. im still learning spanish and its coming, but i still have a long way to go! i got the package from grandma and i slept warm last night for the first time! it was awesome!!!!! so JT leaves on monday, but he is excited and is looking forward to it. i cant wait til i can leave the mtc and start teaching real investigators! the mtc is great, but im excited to leave! we got to hear from elder L. Tom Perry on tuesday and it was so cool! so who is our new stake pres. and what are the boundaries.
Well that is what my weeks mostly consist of. if you have any question just ask me in my emails because then i can look at them as i write. by the way the weather up here is way weird because it was freezing like 2 weeks ago, but its is warm now! it is weird but it is perfect weather. i just hope it snows soon becuase i love snow. anyways i got to go. i love you all sooooo much. and i hope i have more to write about next week!

Love

P.S. hope you like the pictures!

Hey guys! thanks for the awesome emails and letters! tell kayler that im way jealous of his first deer! i love hearing from everyone! so good news, I've only gained like 7 pounds haha! anyway this week was sweet. i had alot of spiritual experiences and spanish is coming along great! my letter last time might be a little confusing about where i am sorry for that. i live about 3/4 of a mile away from main campus ( where you dropped me off). i only get to go to main campus for devotionals on Sunday and Tuesday nights. im looking forward to seeing chase, but if im lucky ill only see him like once a week. ill see if i can find him on Wednesday and see how he is doing. my district is doing well and we have really buckled down and started studying all the time. anyway i cant tell you how much of a blessing it is to live on west campus, only Spanish speaking missionaries are here, so i speak the language a tone! plus i get so much more freedom then main campus. for example on our "p" days we get to walk to Brighams landing outlet mall for lunch and dinner. today i had burger supreme and jamba juice, and main campus has community showers and if you are not in the first like 200, you don't have enough time to shower that day! haha poor chase! me and elder earl are doing great except for one thing, the food here gives us both alot of gas. mostly elder earl. but other than that we are great! so its starting to get cold here and it has snowed 3 times already. you probably have received the letter i sent yesterday, but i could really use a blanket so i don't have to bust out my sleeping bag. i have more details in the letter i sent, but that would be awesome if you could send me a blanket. oh and that idea of moms sounds good to me. i love getting letters in the middle of the week! so yesterday we got 21 new elders in our zone! it is awesome! more missionaries flow in every Wednesday and west campus is getting huge! the lord is really hastening the work! any way i don't have much time so i got to go! i love you guys!

Hey everyone! I loved hearing about your week! i cant believe you didnt even get a deer! Maybe next year! so this week has been awesome but crazy. the first day i got here i came to class and my teacher didnt say one word in english. my teachers name is brother McGhie. he is awesome and i've already learned so much spanish. anyway so im on the west campus and it is awesome! i live in apartments so it my own shower, unlike the main campus where they have community showers! i got sick like the 3rd day but my district gave me a blessing and i got better the next day, it was awesome. my district is the coolest district ever! the food is preatty good but im putting on weight fast, so im learning to not drink chocolate milk every meal! so my companion is elder earl. he is awesome! he is from Louisiana! he has the funniest accent, but i love it. so the third day we were here we had to start teaching an investigator named Jorge. it would not have been that hard, but he didnt understand any english, like at all! it was so hard, but fun. the west campus it the bomb! we get to go to brigham's landing on p-days and we have a creamery where the sell apple beer! it is soooooo cool! on sunday i walk to main campus for the devotional and saw parker roe and tyson hubberd. sunday was a blast and me and elder earl just got asigned as sacreament cordinators. we just are incharge of the sacrament for our branch! its preatty easy. so today i got to go to the temple and i had a great time. they played the old video so it was awesome! i had a great time and really felt the spirit, plus the provo temple is way sweet! the gym times here are awsome, but the are outside so it is sometimes cold. i had to get out my winter jacket! we also have a really cool zone! the zone leaders and me are like best friends. J.T. Mackeane is in my zone and i see him every day! so my schedule is pretty crazy. i wake up at 6 to shower, then at 6:45 i have breakfeast, the at 715 i have class until 1015. then it is personal study until 1120. 1120 is lunch and from then on my schedule changes from day to day, but most the time it consits of more class followed by launguage study or additional study and planning meetings. then bed at 1030 at night. sorry about the gromatical errors, the computer is being dumb and wont let me fix my spelling stuff, plus i dont have time. so i miss you guys and love you guys, but not enough to come home. sorry mom!

love you guys, and here are some pics

Carter was called to labor in the Argentina, Bahia Blanca Mission on June 25, 2013 (he opened the call on Sunday June 30th.) So many friends and family were there to support him that, combined with the 113 degree temps outside, it was roasting in the family room! Aunt Randi & Uncle Matt were there on Skype.
